local or not, it's quite obvious that a template bearing illegal attributions of skills and stats would be rejected by the server.

I heard GuildWiki will be ofering template downloads, that seems to imply it. I think contact lists are stored locally already.

In response to Knightsaber Sith... "With Save to Template, you can save a build of skills and attributes to your computer."
does anyone know if this will make cheating more likely? although some cheaters will be caught...is there really a proven/definitive system for detecting hacks?

I really don't think that there will be any way to cheat off it, if you think about it, the template program that they've designed is probably something that dictates to your guild wars program telling it what attributes and skills to set on teh character's bar you set it to. It does not tell the program what the skills do, that's saved on the Guild Wars server, there really isn't any cheating about it. As stated by solar. In realation to the hero system, I think that basically Areanet is making a user-friendly henchman, something that I'm all for, though I don't think that it'll be completly easy to get them to avoid groups by the hair of an aggro bubble

the template will likely be a short collection of numbers and references... maybe even a .txt, with the sole objective of making build changes quicker. I can't see how that could lead to cheating; anet would have to be EXTREMELY naive (or downright stupid) to keep any ulterior game information in those files.

I dislike the fact that they share your storage. People where demanding storage increases forever. Now they get the opposite of that????
Hopefully there is still some unannounced feature to fix this.

Aye. I don't think the idea is for you to micromanage every single skill like you had four characters instead of one - instead, it's intended so that when you feel like shouting "I need skill X STAT!" to your henchies, you actually can...
(Well, you could before, but now you have help that might actually listen )

it seems heros will be integrated more with the menus, can NF players bring them to older campains and use them? it would be neat if they could.
I have not seen anything said that limits Hero use to Elona.

That's what the blurp was about.
The fact that you can get your resident healer hero to swing the wand your way when necessary.

No, it wont.
And no, theres no fail safe antihack (the mere concept is silly), but there are several steps which GuildWiki has not taken.
Dont worry, this wont be the straw that breaks the game.

I really do hope you have a chance to to re-choose your hero again... Or else it going to be one heck of a planning stage for those of us that want the tip-top efficiency.

Looks like the WPE will be a good opportunity to try it out since it looks so complex at first before it gets simpler once tried.

Give pet a chance!
All the new stuff seems great!!!
I'm just hoping that one day or another Anet will give to the ranger pets the same options as those for the heroes...

You can also use the hero system to make some specialized builds.
Like you could turn the monk Hero into a lifebonder. You can cast all his lifebonds and then remember to trigger his sig every now and then even if he doesn't understand to do it himself. Sounds cool.

Bonnie Tyler anyone? (ask your dad...;-))
Holding out for a Hero - Bonnie Tyler (1986)
Doo doo doo doooo
Doo doo doo doooo
Doo doo doo doooo
Aaahhh
Aaahhh
Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the gods?
Where’s the street-wise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?
Isn’t there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream of what I need
I need a hero
I'm holding out for at hero 'till the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I’m holding out for a hero 'till the morning light
He’s gotta be sure
And it’s gotta be soon
And he’s gotta be larger than life
Larger than life
Doo doo doo doooo
Doo doo doo doooo
Doo doo doo doooo
Aaahhh
Aaahhh
Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasy
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There’s someone reaching back for me
Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat
It’s gonna take a superman to sweep me off my feet
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'till the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I’m holding out for a hero 'till the morning light
He’s gotta be sure
And it’s gotta be soon
And he’s gotta be larger than life
I need a hero
I'm holding out for at hero 'till the the end of the night
Up where the mountains meet the heavens above
Out where the lightning strikes the sea
I could swear there is someone somewhere
Watching me
Through the wind and the chill and the rain
And the storm and the flood
I can feel his approach
Like a fire in my blood
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'till the end of the night
He’s gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'till the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'till the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'till the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And he's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'till the end of the night
